Rioja Reigns at the Food + Wine Classic in Aspen

From June 14 – 16, 2019, over 5,000 food and wine lovers from around the country descended upon Aspen for the annual Food & Wine Classic, this year celebrating its 37th anniversary. More than 100 chefs, winemakers, and industry experts gave talks, as well as cooking and wine pairing demonstrations to the eager attendees. Over 10,000 bottles of wine were poured throughout the event, many of them in the Wines From Spain tent, where Rioja flowed into the glasses of consumers, trade, and media eager to sample the wines on offer and learn more about the region.

Rioja had its own branded table in the Spain tent showcasing 12 different red, white and rosé wines. During the grand tasting sessions, Rioja ambassadors shared information with attendees and poured an array of wines, from youthful Genéricos and Crianzas to Reservas and Gran Reservas. Rioja was also a guest of honor at the very-VIP “Mountaintop Party” on Friday evening, which for the first time had a Spain theme. Guests rode the gondola to the top of Aspen mountain for this exclusive event, which welcomed top chefs, industry experts, media, sponsors, and other VIPs. Rioja wines were featured prominently in the wine bars around the space.
