Bodegas Montecillo Brings the Second Edition of ‘Discovery Week’ to NYC 2023

New York (PRWEB), Published June 1, 2023

This year, Bodegas Montecillo–Rioja’s third oldest winery– and Cinco Jotas will host the second ‘Discovery Week’ celebration in New York City, following a successful activation in Miami in 2022. Guests will get the chance to experience and taste Spain’s most iconic gastronomic pairing at 9 participating restaurants & bars from June 1st to 11th, 2023: Bodegas Montecillo wines and Cinco Jotas 100% ibérico ham.

Bodegas Montecillo boasts 150 years of authentic winemaking traditions, establishing a reputation for crafting premium Rioja wines. Crafted with patience and authentic winemaking techniques, led by Winemaker Mercedes García Rupérez, Bodegas Montecillo wines embody the different styles of Rioja wines made predominantly with the indigenous grape Tempranillo from the subregion of Rioja Alta.

Bodegas Montecillo held a vertical tasting of historic vintages at Jose Andres’ award-winning Nubeluz restaurant in New York in February 2023, receiving an incredible response from the sybarite Manhattan media, who were impressed by the award-winning premium quality wines. The team is thrilled to expand on this success and disembark Discovery Week in the same iconic city at reputable restaurants that showcase the best of international gastronomy.

The Discovery Week exclusive deal will include two glasses of Bodegas Montecillo wine, paired with one plate of Cinco Jotas 100% acorn-fed ibérico ham.

  • Bodegas Montecillo Reserva: An authentic award winning Rioja Reserva, is a true expression of the winery’s past, present and future made from Tempranillo and small amounts of Mazuelo (8%), bursting with the elegance, balance and complexity that defines Montecillo. It flourishes with notes of fine oak and smooth velvety tannins, and the nose is rich with aromas of cherry and dark fruit like blackberries and plums, followed by hints of licorice and vanilla.
  • Bodegas Montecillo Edición Limitada 2016: A limited bottle release, each numbered and signed by the winemaker showcases the authentic and everlasting tradition of Rioja. Crafted with the ancestral varietals of Tempranillo and Graciano, this medium-bodied wine offers powerful fruit-forward aromas of red cherry and raspberry followed by notes of toffee, toasted nuts and dark chocolate hints of cinnamon with an elegant finish, leaving a lasting impression.
  • Cinco Jotas: The most iconic acorn-fed ibérico ham, coming from the Iberian pigs, a native breed from the South-West of Spain. A privileged product, tantalizing the taste buds around the world for 140 years. The premium ham is a reflection of years of skilled craftsmanship devoted to mastering the curing process in order to deliver a soulful delicacy. Consumers will be able to enjoy the unrivaled flavor of Cinco Jotas in two ways: freshly carved and in a delectable dish.

“We are thrilled to host Discovery Week for a second year, this time in a new city to give visitors the opportunity to indulge in two authentic gems of Spain’s gastronomy,” says Mercedes García Rupérez, winemaker of Bodegas Montecillo. “We hope to see many guests dive into our culture this summer and we will continue to bring this authentic experience to additional cities across the country in the near future”.
