On September 22, 2026, Rioja hosted the DOCa Grand Tasting at The Swexan Hotel in Dallas, bringing together 36 Rioja wineries and nearly 250 wine and hospitality professionals for an afternoon of trade tasting and education.

What Happened in Dallas

The day opened with a Master Class led by Master Sommelier Steven McDonald, covering Rioja’s history, terroir, and classifications, followed by an afternoon walkaround tasting with three “Rapid Rioja” breakout sessions hosted by Jonathan Eichholz, MS — digging into old-vine sites, terroir variation, and Rioja’s white wines. Thank you to every sommelier, buyer, distributor, and beverage director who made the trip, and to the 36 wineries who poured.
